Review: Sebago Lake State Park

Let me start by saying that we love this place! Besides the seacoast, Maine is known for its woods and lakes and this is a perfect example of both. Located in Naples, Maine this state park has 225 sites, with a good mix of hookups or not and even some pathways with tent-only sites. There are a number of park hosts that do a superb job of keeping the facility clean. We stayed both in the spring and the fall of this year, but I would imagine that it is very busy during the summer season.

There are two beautiful beaches for swimming in the chilly lake waters. There are several hiking trails available and all of the roadways are paved and make taking a long walk very easy. Scattered around the park are four buildings with restrooms and showers, The showers are individual tiled rooms with plenty of free hot water and benches. We always found them clean and ready to use. The hookup sites do not include sewer, but there is a large dump station on your way out of the park.

For us, the best feature of this state park is the peace and quiet. Whether we were lounging in a camp chair reading a magazine or sitting around the fire ring after dark, it was very relaxing. If you are visiting from out of state, there are numerous campgrounds closer to the seashore, but for us it was about the resbit from the turmoil of life. You will not be disappointed.
